NO TO THE U.S. TAKEOVER OF GP PRACTICES
The Loxford Surgery here in Ilford South was taken over by an American private company called Centene back in February.
- I believe that patients have a right to know who is in charge of their local GP practice and should be kept informed of major changes such as this.
- There are series questions to be answered about the financial viability of ‘Operose’ (the British arm of US company ‘Centene’) who has taken over the running of 49 GP practices in the UK including the Loxford Surgery.
- Large-scale private companies have a dire record when it comes to running UK GP surgeries. There are examples of cuts to staff and services and pulling out of contracts early if they can’t make enough profit.
- In the US and Spain, Centene companies have been accused of fraud, profiteering and mismanagement.
NO TO THE GP ‘DATAGRAB’
- Unless you opt out by August 25th, your medical records held by your GP will be shared with ‘third parties’ – including private companies.
- Why have patients not been informed about this drastic change to the handling of their data
- Why the lack of transparency and openness about who will be able to access our data and for what purposes?
- Why make it so hard to opt out effectively meaning these changes are pushed through by stealth?
Petition calling on Health Secretary Sajid Javid to end the ongoing Privatisation of our NHS
We, the undersigned, petition Health Secretary Sajid Javid to end the ongoing privatisation of the NHS. We draw particular attention to the recent takeover of the Loxford Practice in Ilford South by private US company 'Centene'. We call on Sajid Javed to scrap the proposed 'datagrab' of our medical records.
